Now herein is presented a rare and collectible Colt for your collection. Colt introduced the New Pocket Model in 1893, as their first small frame, swing out cylinder double action revolver. It was intended as concealable personal defense weapon. It was developed from the 1892 Army revolver and built on a Model A Frame. Chambered with six rounds of .32 Colt, a now obsolete cartridge but similar to the .32 Smith & Wesson Long Blackpowder. The .32 Colt New Police was a later development. Colt did chamber some of later production in the Smith cartridge. With a total production of around 30,000, these New Pockets represent a significant milestone in Colt's development of the revolver. Overall condition of this New Pocket example is rated as Antique Very Good. The revolver has a 3.5 inch barrel, with half moon blade front sight and fixed groove rear sight. All metal parts retain about 20% of the original bluing with significant mottling and spotting. The trigger does show some of the original fire blue. The hard rubber Colt grip are also in good condition. The Bore and Cylinders are excellent. The time and lockup decent. Overall a very nice Old School Collectible Colt, and a significant historical milestone in the evolution of the revolver. Would make a fine addition to any Colt Collection!!
